PILA group® supplies goal posts made from marine grade aluminium to ensure safety, durability and appearance for the long term.

PILA group explains the value of using marine grade 6063 T6 high tensile aluminium to manufacture the safest goal posts for sport and play.

Aluminium is considered the best choice for goal posts because the material is virtually maintenance-free as it doesn’t rust like steel, rot like timber, or crack or warp like PVC; it is also strong and lightweight, shock absorbing, and eco-friendly.

Marine grade aluminium

Marine grade is an industry term for several 5000 and 6000 series of aluminium alloys that are rated for use in and around salt water. In the context of goal posts, marine grade aluminium delivers superior corrosion resistance, ensuring the goal post will have an extended lifespan even when continuously exposed to harsh outdoor conditions.

6063 aluminium alloy

An extremely popular alloy thanks to its high strength, excellent corrosion resistance and superior extrusion ability, 6063 is a preferred material choice in architectural applications as well as in aerospace structures, boat and shipbuilding, cycling frames and components, automobile frames, and goal posts. The high quality surface finish, which is also suitable for anodising, not only increases its corrosion and wear resistance, but also makes it aesthetically pleasing.

The major alloying element in the 6000 series alloys is a combination of magnesium and silicon.

T6

T6 refers to the temper of the alloy, or the hardness due to heat treatment. T6 is the maximum strength, which is achieved by ageing the metal using heat treatment at high temperatures. Goal posts made using 6063 T6 aluminium alloy are more structurally sound.
