Award-winning architects, Dreamtime Australia Design have used stone cladding in three individual projects across Sydney. Boral Cultured Stone cladding was used to create unique interiors for Whitewater restaurant at Manly, the Royal Motor Yacht Club at Point Piper and the soon-to-be-opened Cyren restaurant at Darling Harbour.

Though the architectural agency rarely specifies manufactured materials, the rich brown and golden tones they sought was not available in natural stone. Dreamtime Australia Design Principal Michael McCann explained that the decorative stone from Boral was ideal for application throughout Whitewater restaurant.

The design objective for Whitewater was to create an outstanding beach house style restaurant on a café strip with the look incorporating lime wash boards and lots of white to be balanced with the relaxed, natural feel of stone. The broad range of shapes and colours in Boral Cultured Stone was mixed and matched to create a lived-in feel.

Cultured Stone was also used in the backdrop of stone-behind-glass in the kitchen as well as an open fire in the restaurant. The decorative stone was easily adaptable to all these applications as it’s easy to cut, has a flat back for a flush fit against walls and includes corner pieces to finish sharp angles.

Dreamtime Australia Design created a very formal, architecturally inspired interior for the Royal Motor Yacht Club, where they used the same Cultured Stone combination of shapes and colours.

Boral Cultured Stone cladding offers a high quality, affordable alternative to natural stone.
