A national seminar tour focusing on sustainable renovations will hit the road mid-year, a follow on to the sell-out series on sustainable housing that was held in early 2002.
A joint initiative between the Australian Greenhouse Office and the (ATA), the “Sustainable houses: renovating your home” seminars will feature keynote speakers Andreas Sederof and Chris Reardon. Sederof, an architect, is one of Australia’s leading speakers on sustainable design while Reardon, a building and design professional, is principal author of the “Your Home” website www.yourhome.gov.au for the Australian Greenhouse office.
The seminars will outline how to incorporate a range of sustainable features in any renovation project, including optimal insulation, strategic orientation on a site, passive and active solar design and the re-use of grey water. In addition, explanatory fact sheets will be provided to all attendees used to detail best practice examples from their own portfolios. A small trade exhibition will accompany the seminar.
