The State and Territory winners for the 2001 Royal Australian Institute of Architects awards were announced in July. They included:

. Sulman Award for public buildings – Suters Architects with Sutchbury Page for the Life Sciences building at the University of Newcastle.
· President’s Award – Peter Myers for his work with indigenous communities.
· Wilkinson Award for housing design – Craig Rosevear for Archer House.
. Blacket Award for housing – Harry Seidler & Associates, for Southern Highland House.
· ESD Energy Efficiency Award – Ryder Associates and Ryder SJPH Associates, for the Olympic Velodrome.
·Architecture Award (public buildings) - Crone Associates for Establishment Hotel.

· Harold Desbrowe-Annear Award for housing - Jackson Clements Burrows for McKendrick Lane House.
· William Wardell Award for institutional public building - Denton Corker Marshall for the Melbourne Museum.
· Sustainable Architecture Award - Taylor Oppenheim Architects for Bairnsdale House.
. John George Knight Award for Heritage & Marion Mahony Award for Interior Architecture - Wood Marsh Architecture with Rice & Skinner Architecture & Interior Design for the Mansion Hotel.
· Joseph Reed Award for Urban Design - M Bellemo Architect & Cat Design for River Peel.

· Heritage Conservation Award - Hocking Planning & Architecture for St Luke’s Anglican Church & graveyard restoration.
