THE CONCRETE Pumping Association of NSW Inc (CPA NSW) held its second Pumpers Picnic on Sunday August 4 at Fairfield Showground in Sydney.
The event was an overwhelming success, with an estimated 450 people in attendance: considerably more than at last year's event, which is regarded as a success. There were 24 exhibitors, including some from the country and interstate.
The first Sunday in August has now been set as the permanent day for the picnic, where members of the pumping association, their families, suppliers and people from associated sectors of the industry gather for fellowship in a fun environment, with barbecues, rides for children and various displays.
The colourful display of clean, well-maintained concrete pumps and booms was a tribute to the owners, and the pride they have in their equipment.
The CPA NSW is a very active association, striving to increase the professionalism of this sector. As part of this a set of 'Concrete Pumping Logbooks' has been developed under the Pumpsafe Australia name, and is available for sale. These are well set out and easy to follow, and can be obtained from the association's executive officer Les McLean on 0412 185 891.
