Slimwood is a new overlay flooring product from Boral Timber that has been designed to be glued directly over concrete. Its profile is only 12mm thick yet the wear layer above the tongue is only half a millimetre thinner than a standard 19mm tongue and groove profile.
Slimwood requires the level of the slab to be plus or minus 3mm over 3m sq area. Because this can sometimes be difficult to achieve , Boral recommends the use of Bostik’s self-levelling compound to make sure that the surface is as flat as possible.
Slimwood is available in a number of species including Sydney Blue Gum, Jarrah, Alpine Ash, Spotted Gum, Tasmanian Oak, Blackbutt and Karri.
