One of Australia’s most exciting young lighting designers, Volker Haug, is set to unveil new features and colours in his distinctive ‘jewellery’ ranges at designEX 2011. designEX will run from the 13th to 15th April at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Volker is passionate about lighting and lighting design and his quirky creations can be found in bars, restaurants, retail spaces, as well as private homes.
The ‘jewellery’ lighting ranges are all about “S” for Simple and “U” for Unbelievably Dynamic. Dynamism is created by “choices” – choices around all components in the design – from the colour, shape, and finish, to the lamp-holder, the lamp and cord. Modern, elegant, yet totally “cutting edge” and available in wall, cable and table designs.
Visitors to designEX will have the opportunity to see a new design and fabric cord colours in the ‘wall jewellery’ (yellow gold, electric blue, olive green, silver and black) and new cord colours for the ‘cable jewellery’ (electric blue, olive green and silver). Polished brass and chrome component are now also available for both styles of lighting.
Specialised and custom lighting projects are a passion for the Volker Haug team. One recent unique project was a lighting installation for Penthouse Mouse (PHM11), which is part of the L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival.
“Our work isn’t limited to our product ranges, we are passionate about designing unique and one off pieces as well so whether someone has something specific in mind, they can’t find anything they love or if they have no idea where to start and need some inspiration, we can help” says Volker.
