Patrick Michels, president of Michels Corporation, announced that Michels Materials, a division of Michels Corporation, has entered the concrete paving industry.
Mike Debelak, a 10-year veteran of Michels, is the division manager of concrete paving operations.
Tim Michels, vice president of Michels Corporation, said, "Michels has the resources and experience to expand our existing operations into this critical area of the Wisconsin economy which has recently seen a void created because of problems at other paving contractors. We're dedicated to providing the industry with a reliable, union paving contractor. Michels Materials has built its reputation by providing quality, consistent work and we want to see these jobs stay in the state of Wisconsin."
Patrick Michels added, "This business extension aligns perfectly with our existing operations. The addition of concrete paving to our pallet of operations provides an exciting opportunity for our team members to apply their expertise."
With this announcement also came news of several promotions within Michels Materials.
J.R. Ramthun, a 20-year veteran of Michels, has been promoted to divisional manager of Road Construction Operations. Jack Westerman, a 34-year veteran, has been promoted to division manager of Aggregate Crushing Operations. And Bob Bingen will become division manager of Pit & Quarry Operations.
Michels Materials operates nearly 100 quarries, and sand and gravel deposits throughout the state to supply a wide variety of crushed aggregates to the construction industry. Established in 1976, Michels Materials employs more than 250 employees.
