has announced the release of the next generation of intelligent IP Security Cameras from Mobotix. Manufactured and designed in Germany, Mobotix Cameras feature image quality, durability and functionality.
Mobotix’s unique “distributed intelligence” approach to IP Security incorporates an embedded Linux operating system, providing significant advantages when compared to conventional analog video technology and webcams. Unlike traditional CCTV and network camera installations, no additional hardware is required for a Mobotix installation. The M12 incorporates sophisticated features such as on board image storage, user definable motion detection, exposure compensation, ftp server, email server, etc, straight out of the box.
With the capability to store 2000 to 4000 images in its own internal memory, the M12 can bridge potential network outages, without the loss of any data.
Operation of the IP Security Cameras is simple. Plug in your Ethernet cable, type an IP address into a standard web browser and the camera is ready. To make things even more convenient, all current models of the Mobotix range accept Power over Ethernet (PoE). Power over Ethernet eliminates the need for costly installation of camera power supply and cabling, saving an estimated $300 per camera installation.
The M12 can be equipped with up to two independent image sensors with an array of available lenses. When using combined day and night image sensors, the camera switches automatically from colour to the more sensitive black-and-white sensor in response to changes in the lighting conditions. This ensures optimum picture quality under all possible lighting conditions. High megapixel resolution of 1280x960, 30 images/sec VGA 640x960, CMOS lenses and 2x/4x digital zoom demonstrate the quality of the Mobotix M12.
Other Features
The modern Mobotix network camera technology includes a wide range of functions to allow effective plant and building security surveillance. The M12 are an inexpensive alternative to a security service: they can be installed at all the “critical” points around the premises, operated around the clock and even configured to trigger an event-based alarm. With the help of Mobotix IP cameras, for example, a single gate keeper can also have a clear view over all building entrances and use the integrated intercom to talk to visitors or to open gates/barriers.
Mobotix cameras have been used for a huge range of security installations, including:
- Storage surveillance
- World cup Soccer surveillance
- Theme park surveillance
- Perimeter surveillance
- Airport security (enhanced image quality for facial recognition)
- Gas station security
- Number plate recognition (parking stations)
