Look Out, This is a Hold-Up!
Grocon is supporting a heritage church-school building at The Rocks in Sydney on 30m-deep piers so that it can excavate beneath it for nine levels of underground car park.
The project is part of Grocon's own development of the Cove, which will include a 44-storey apartment building above the underground car park and a new four-storey office building.
Grocon is underpinning the walls of the old school hall and laying new concrete foundations under this three-storey brick building. New foundations are being formed segment by segment under the old walls and post-tensioned together.
Steel piers 30m long, made of 500mm welded column sections, are being lifted and lowered by crane into the four pier holes that are then being filled with poured concrete.
