Laminex Industries is sponsoring Abigail Wsamer, a masters student in design, by donating product and materials for her ‘smart’ kitchen concept, an entry in Monash University’s industrial design exhibition, which opens on November 21 and runs for three weeks.

Wsamer’s objective was to design a kitchen concept different to the kinds of domestic kitchens currently seen in Australia. The smart kitchen is conducive to modern living and suits an urban living environment where space is often an architectural constraint. The smart kitchen is created to occupy as small a space as possible, while still accommodating all the major functions of a fully operational kitchen.

“To create a smart kitchen it was important to use materials that were both flexible and looked great,” says Wsamer. “Laminex materials enabled me to achieve the keen lines and angular design which are the dominant trend in stylish homes today, allowing me to create something that is both functional and easy on the eye.”
