Entries are now open for the 2005 DuPont Innovation awards split into seven categories: construction and architecture; health and safety; performance materials; agricultural production and marketing (open category); tertiary Student Award (open category); open category and DuPont Chairman’s Award
Three nominees will be selected from each of the categories and winners will be announced at the DuPont Innovation Entries close on 4 November 2005 and the winners will be announced at the DuPont Innovations awards presentation in Melbourne on 12 May 2006.
Last year’s winners included Poly Optics Australia who took out the Construction and Architecture category for their flexible optic light system which replaces traditional globes and provides households and businesses with a cheaper, more environmentally-friendly lighting solution and finalist Lehmann Solar Pacific with SkyCool roof coating which not only repels heat but also pumps out internal heat from the building. The coating utilises DuPont Ti-Pure as the pigment and allows buildings to use up to 50 percent less cooling than a roof without it. This means there is a reduction in air-conditioning power which is not only economically more efficient, but more environmentally sound.
