Are Australian buildings better equipped to survive a terrorist attack than the New York World Trade Center complex? That will be one of the many issues relating to the construction industry that will be under the spotlight during the Safety Institute of Australia’s annual Safety in Action conference, to be held at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre from April 8-10.
On this theme, Neville Betts of Boorea Rudd will examine the likelihood of Australian buildings surviving such an attack, taking into account the Building Code of Australia’s passive fire safety features, Australian Standards relating to fire and the Victorian Government’s new Essential Services Regulations.
Meanwhile Malcolm Nelson, Corporate Risk Management, will speak on occupational health and safety issues in property design, including property management issues associated with potential liability exposure and health and safety issues within high rise and commercial office properties.
