The new look Timber Advisory Centre at the Timber Merchants Association in Melbourne showcases a “Cut Away House” that allows visitors to see what lies behind the plaster and brickwork.
The two-storey home shows how timber is used, from the framework to the windows and floors. “We knew from the many inquiries we get from the public that there is absolute fascination in the building process,” says Richard Brooks, executive director of the Timber Merchants Association. “So we’ve decided to expose the process, quite literally, so that the public really begins to understand the making of a house.”
