The Australian Institute of Architects has launched its search for Creative Directors to attend and display their work at the Architectural Exhibitions in the 2012 Venice Biennale - putting out a call for Australians with a ‘vision’ and passion for promoting Australian architecture globally.

Interested members of the industry as well as the public will be able to lodge expressions of interest for the Creative Directors’ role From Monday 30 May until Monday 27 June. Those lodging submissions will need to include a documented ‘vision’ for the 2012 exhibition to be staged in the Australian Pavilion in Venice, as well as details of involved team members.

The Venice Architecture Exhibitions Biennale is one of the most significant forums for discussion and debate regarding critical issues that face the architectural profession and society as a whole, ones that could determine the future of the planet. As such, the Australian Institute of Architects is dedicated to sustaining a long term presence and commitment to this key global event.

Heavily supported by the Australian architecture community, State Governments and sponsors, the Institute’s NOW and WHEN: Australian Urbanism architecture exhibitions attracted over 93,000 visitors in 2010 – an increase of 60 per cent on the 2008 Venice Architecture Biennale exhibition. Over 170,000 persons attended the Biennale over its three month run in 2010, with 53 countries participating and an extra 20 collateral events organised.
