Australian Disabled Access Consultants recently carried out accessibility audit inspections of adaptable housing dwellings at a public housing project of the NSW Department of Housing located in North Ryde.
Southern Cross Constructions Pty Ltd of East Sydney and West End Constructions Group Pty of West Sydney constructed a public housing project under the NSW Government Nation Building and Jobs Plan.
The public housing project comprised of seven 2-storey apartments with five ground level adaptable dwellings, open interconnecting pathways of travel and an open central parking area with two accessible parking spaces.
Scope of work of Australian Disabled Access Consultants
- Identify AS4299 and AS1428.1 non-complying work
- Provide a pre-adaptive compliance certificate for each adaptable dwelling to comply with AS4299 CLASS C dwelling certification
- Provide a disabled access building audit report for compliance with the NSW Government Nation Building and Jobs Plan approval, Australian Standards AS4299-1995 (Adaptable Dwellings), AS1428.1-2001 (Design for Access & Mobility) and AS2890.1–1993 (Parking Facilities)
Australian Disabled Access Consultants completed the disabled access building audit inspection, identified non-complying work and negotiated disabled access within the accessible dwellings and onsite.
The final disabled access assessment report of Australian Disabled Access Consultants certified compliance with:
- The guiding principles of the Disabilities Discrimination Act
- The NSW Government Nation Building and Jobs Plan approval
- Australian Standards AS4299, AS1428.1 and AS2890.1 disabled access and wheelchair access design guidelines
