Australian Disabled Access Consultants established their Middle Eastern Corporate headquarters office at Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates under the trading name of Emirates Special Needs Consultants.

Australian Disabled Access Consultants and Emirates Special Needs Consultants business partnership attended the 2007 Cityscape Trade Exhibition held at Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates to assess the level of access for disabled people and people with special needs into new property developments within the GULF Region. Abu Dhabi Cityscape Trade Exhibition is an annual venue, where property developers display their projects in the GULF Region and the Middle East in general and consultants promote their expert technical services to assist the property development industry.

Australian Disabled Access Consultants and Emirates Special Needs Consultants business partnership staff met several property developers, construction companies and promoters including:

  • Aldar Properties PJSC
  • Sama Dubai Properties
  • Tamer Properties
  • Sorough Properties
  • RAK Properties
  • Ecoram Constructions Pty Ltd
  • BABEL Engineering Consultancy
  • Burt Hill Engineering
  • Abu Dhabi Tourism and Development Company
  • ESCAN
  • Richmond Property International

Australian Disabled Access Consultants and Emirates Special Needs Consultants business partnership were impressed at the size and scope of the real estate development projects being displayed. They were concerned that access for people with disabilities and special needs might not be provided in all projects due to lack of regulations in the GULF Region and the Middle East to demand that disabled access be provided for disabled people and people with special needs in new real estate development projects.

The United Arab Emirates Disability Act (Federal Law No.29/2006) protects rights of people with disabilities and special needs. They correct this imbalance by requiring disabled access for disabled people and people with special needs into different property development projects.
