Major suppliers attended the recent National Austech 2009 conference, flying in from all over the world.
Marty McDonnell from Royal Building Products in Canada discussed vinyl cladding at the conference. Marty was interested in the way that Australian vinyl cladding is insulated as in Canada, vinyl cladding is fixed straight onto the existing building.
Austech’s Duratuff Select vinyl wall cladding has an expanded polystyrene backing that makes them more ridged and adds the energy efficiency of homes.
Foamular Extruded Polystyrene’s manufacturer Owens Coming was represented by Billy Lee who was pleased to see just how well received Foamular was in Australia and all the innovative ways it is used.
Billy was interested in Foamular surfboards and Austech’s new innovative foil board. He did notice a big difference in the EIFS (External Insulation Finishing Systems) market in Australia where Foamular is also used on wooden frame homes, wrapping all the walls in insulation and minimising thermal bridging.
Foamular’s product manager Mike Nagle presented on Foamular insulation’s superior life cycle and innovative uses for Foamular insulation. One important area identified were Green Roof Gardens, with Foamular insulation acting as a waterproof membrane protector and insulator. Foamular insulation is ideally suited applications like this because of its closed cell structure which makes it unaffected by moisture or soil.
Ben Chng from Craft Stone also attended the conference. In the last year Craft Stone sales have been skyrocketing in Australia as people look for a quality alternative to beat the high cost of natural stone.
Austech External Building Products ’ head office is situated in Sydney and has branches Australia wide.
