The company that decorated the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur with 70,000 gilded leaves is now looking to provide a similar service on projects of any size in Australia.
Art Gilding , founded in 1976 and specialising in the application of metal leaf finishes (gold/silver in interior designs), is on the lookout for interior designers, architects and builders who would like to utilise this relatively new-to-market, decorative feature.
But while the overall effect of metal leaf finishes is to produce an impression of prestige, class and opulence, the reality is that the look can be achieved with faux gold, silver and platinum finishes that bring the costs far below expectations.
Metal leaf is made from pure metal, beaten tissue-thin and applied leaf by leaf over areas such as feature walls, ceilings, domes, coffers, doors and cornices.
Projects in Australia that Art Gilding has completed include State Parliament House, the Legislative Assembly Chambers, Government House, the Admiralty, the Strand Arcade and Sydney Town Hall.
Master gilder Karl Eggert, head of the Art Gilding team, says: “All our work is fully guaranteed and interior designers, architects and builders will be able to recommend these finishes to their clients well within budget, while still making considerable profit.”
