Art on the Move

For 20 years, MTA Arts for Transit has commissioned the public art that beautifies New York's subway and train stations. To honor that history, UBS Art Gallery has organized a review of 190 of these projects. Titled "Along the Way: MTA Arts for Transit, Celebrating 20 Years of Public Art," the collection of models, collages, and photos captures everything from bronze sculptures by Tom Otterness to Nancy Spero's tile mural depicting an opera diva and musicians in the Lincoln Center subway station. Roy Lichtenstein's 16-panel porcelain-enamel mural in Times Square shows influences such as science fiction and New York's World's Fairs. June 30–September 9; 212-713-2885; ubs.com.
