Architectural Flexibility

Solar Roof, by , is a unique product created by bonding an amorphous PV laminate to a modified BHP ZINCALUME® or COLORBOND® roof profile. A steel solar roofing panel is created providing colour and dimensional compatibility with standard BHP roofing products giving designers and architects flexibility when designing any type of building. The once unproductive building roof becomes a potent force in reducing damaging Greenhouse gas with Solar Roof.

Architects and designers are no longer constrained by the traditional solar module which is restricted by unsightly and bulky framing system. Solar Roof can be ordered in any of the following configurations: any BHP roofing color, from 3 to 9 meter length and as a flat or curved profile.

Amorphous silicon modules have a significantly lower embodied energy. Combine this with not requiring an aluminum frame and galvanized steel mounting brackets the embodied energy is even lower. Solar Roof is suitable for residential grid connected systems to large commercial and remote off grid systems.

Not only is Solar Roof aesthetically pleasing to the eye, it is also technically superior outperforming alternative photovoltaic modules. For instance Solar Roof is extremely tolerant of low light conditions like cloudy days due to the triple junction structure which captures light from a wider spectrum of light (blue, green & red). Also due to bypass diodes across each cell Solar Roof will outperform alternatives in partial shading conditions. Significantly Solar Roof is suited to higher temperatures experienced in the Australian environment. In real world conditions Solar Roof will produce up to 25% more power per specified watts than alternative modules.

Amorphous technology employed in the Solar Roof has been proven for many years in the military, marine and aerospace applications – even aboard the Mir Space Station.

Solar Roof is extremely durable due to the polymer cover that includes DuPont’s Tefzel film. Being walked over and being pelted by stones is no problem and the array will even continue to operate if pierced by a projectile. From the designer to the installer Solar Roof offers the flexibility and ease that the building industry demands today. It can be installed by roofing contractors and can be simply connected by the electrical contractor.
