The Italian Way of Seating exhibition is set to appear at Hotel Hospitality + Design 2011 that runs from 14th to 16th March at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The exhibition of Italian chair design and manufacture across the second half of the 20th century showcases the most innovative and iconic examples of the humble chair, long considered the pinnacle of product design.
The exhibition reveals the diverse and unique collection of pieces through which audiences gain an insight into the strategic interplay between form and function.
Claudio Pasqualucci, the Italian Trade Commissioner explained, “Our collaboration with HHD is a perfect fit. These chairs are iconic pieces and most are still in production, many with Australian distribution. This was an opportunity to spread the message about high quality Italian design to a discerning audience, in a forum where function and design are paramount”.
Curator Alessandro Mendini presents the chairs as small pieces of architecture whose design has tested the mettle of famous artists, great architects and renowned designers. The featured designers have successfully married creativity and functional requirements while addressing the practical manufacturing concerns.
The Italian Way of Seating Showcase is located on the exhibition floor at HHD 2011 and is showcased by the Italian Trade Commission, who can provide a list of Australian distributors upon request.
Diversified Exhibitions Australia are the exhibition organisers for the HHD 2001 design exhibition.
