Kennards Hire  has added 5.5 tonne and 8 tonne machines to an expanding range of excavators at some of its equipment hire centres.

The new excavators join the 1 tonne, 1.5 tonne and 3.5 tonne units, which can be hired across the branch network.

Darwin-based civil, electrical and building contractor Wolpers Grahl used two 5.5 tonne excavators from Kennards Hire Winnellie while working on a power and water project, involving the laying of high voltage cable from Weddell Power Station over Elizabeth River Bridge to Archer Zone Substation.

MG Electrical Services, principal contractor for the project, carried out the overhead installation of the 66kV feeder, while Wolpers Grahl undertook the below ground work.

According to Wolpers Grahl construction manager Troy Glover, though they already operated 11 of their own excavators, they needed more machines due to the increasing workload. Tony appreciates the quality of the machinery and equipment available from Kennards as well as their level of service.

Kennards Hire has also supplied an 8 tonne excavator with rock-breaker attachment for long-term work around a major mine in a remote part of Western Australia for trenching, digging footings and rock removal.

Kennards Hire operates 142 equipment hire centres in Australia and New Zealand.
