Seven pumps hired from
Kennards Hire Pump & Power were lifted into position by a 100-tonne crane at Canberra’s main wastewater treatment plant.
As part of the scheduled maintenance work, a flow of 800 litres per second was required to rapidly empty part of the plant. Kennards Hire units used for the application included 200mm and 150mm silenced pumps in trailer-mounted and skid-mounted variants.
While the 200mm pumps have a maximum capacity of 220 litres per second and a maximum head of 64m, the 150mm model has a maximum capacity of 174 litres per second and maximum head of 60m.
Kennards Hire’s big pumps have been in great demand due to heavy rain in the eastern states during summer and autumn this year, which led to numerous flooding incidents. The company worked hard to move units between locations to meet the urgent pump hire needs.
