Hyne Timber received official recognition from the Queensland Government,
winning an award in the ‘Employer of the Year’ category for their in-house
training programme. Hyne Timber was recently a finalist at the NSW training
awards.
Hyne Timber CEO Mr Jon Kleinschmidt, who attended the Queensland
Government training awards ceremony last week in Brisbane, expressed his
happiness about the company’s recognition twice in only two weeks across two
different states.
He explained that most Hyne employees spend a significant amount of
their lives contributing to the growing success of Hyne Timber. The company
ensures high employee retention rates by continuously training and developing their
people to have a successful, long and personally satisfying career.
According to Mr Kleinschmidt, the recognition in both NSW and QLD
reaffirms Hyne Timber’s commitment to, and delivery of the highest standard in
its training.
Employing over 500 people across its operations, the Hyne Timber
footprint extends from Cairns to Melbourne with six of the 11 sites situated in
Queensland including the headquarters in Maryborough.
James Hyne, Operations Manager at the Tuan Mill near Maryborough said
training in the timber industry has come a long way with safety being prioritised
across all operations. He explains that almost every Hyne Timber mill employee
at Tuan has, or is currently undertaking, a Certificate III or IV in Sawmilling
and Processing.
He adds that safety is a priority and a recurring theme throughout the training.
