HPM Legrand announces the release of a new range of electrical accessories featuring antimicrobial technology for use in healthcare facilities.

Launched by Legrand, the new Excel Life Medical Range consists of wiring devices and electrical accessories constructed with silver ions, enabling the facility to reduce the risk of cross-contamination.

The silver ions in Legrand’s Excel Life Medical Range deliver a kill rate of up to 99 per cent against common hospital bacteria. The antimicrobial properties of these devices render Escherichia Coli and Staphylococcus Aureus bacteria ineffective immediately and kill the vicious contagions within 24 hours.

Marked with the antimicrobial symbol, the Excel Life Medical Range includes complete medical functions and service panels in stainless steel and antimicrobial plastic for patient rooms and operating theatres. Colour coded devices in accordance with Australian Medical Standards are also available, including integrated circuit IDs for power points and switches.

Also delivering a high level of electrical safety, the Excel Life Medical Range meets Australian/New Zealand Standards AS/NZS 3112, AS/NZS 3003 and AS/NZS 3190.

Key safety features in the Excel Life Medical Range include internal safety shutters incorporated in all power points; Electresafe power points with built-in 10mA or 30mA Residual Current Device (RCD safety switch); and the 10mA version developed specifically for the healthcare industry with a more sensitive tripping threshold enabling greater protection for staff and critical medical equipment.

Compatible with other Legrand Excel Life products in non-medical environments such as offices and meeting rooms, the new medical range can be finished with Excel Life skirting lights, dual USB chargers in power points and switches, as well as no touch switches to provide a sleek and seamless look to the environment.

The Excel Life Medical Range has been tested by an independent TGA accredited laboratory to JIS Z 2801:2010 and proven to be an effective antibacterial agent. The results demonstrated a kill rate against Escherichia Coli and Staphylococcus Aureus between 99.72% and 99.9999%.
