The heat is on as the nation’s best restaurants/bars have been short listed to compete against each other for the coveted Hospitality Interior Design Award as part of the prestigious 2005 Interior Design Awards.
A partnership event of the Design Institute of Australia, designEX and Artichoke Magazine, the annual Awards champion outstanding commercial and residential interior design by Australian designers and form one of the most important and professionally respected nights in the industry’s calendar.
The short list for the Hospitality Interior Design Category was compiled from 38 entries Australia-wide, covering a wide range of hospitality venues from cocktail bars to sushi bars to first class restaurants. Those who recognise that it’s not only what you eat but where you eat that counts have been recognised for their design excellence and included in the short list of 14 entrants.
From the short list, finalists, as well as an overall Hospitality Interior Design Winner, and an overall Interior Design Excellence & Innovation Winner (chosen from the winners of each primary category) will be announced at the Interior Design Awards Gala Presentation Dinner on Friday, 22 April 2005 in the Great Hall, National Gallery of Victoria.
Those responsible for the announcements are from a judging panel comprised of Australia’s most renowned commercial/residential interior designers and architects: Christopher Hansson (INARC Architecture, VIC); Madeline Lester (MLDM, NSW); Stephen Varady (Stephen Varady Architecture, NSW); and Kathleen Kusinski (Marshall Kusinski, WA).
In addition to the Hospitality Interior Design category, awards will be given for another nine categories, which include:
