Caroma won the coveted Good Design of the Year Award 2014 for its state-of-the-art bathroom range, developed in collaboration with internationally acclaimed designer Marc Newson.

Announced at the 2014 Good Design Awards Gala Night in Sydney on May 28, the collection also took out the Good Design Award in the Housing and Building category.

Dr Steve Cummings, Research and Development Manager at GWA Kitchens and Bathrooms, said a major contributing factor in the win was the very close and productive collaboration they had with Marc and his team, where they were able to maintain the full intent of Marc’s designs while incorporating Caroma’s advanced technologies.

Chief Executive of GWA Kitchens and Bathrooms, Mr Les Patterson said the collection is now specified in a range of very high profile private and commercial projects internationally. GWA’s patented technology and the Good Design of the Year Award are evidence that the company continues to be a global leader in design for bathrooms and kitchens.

Dr Brandon Gien, CEO of Good Design Australia said judges felt that the Caroma Marc Newson Bathroom Collection exemplified how the process of design thinking can be applied to a longstanding everyday product to resolve challenges and reach a beautifully designed outcome.

The 22-piece Caroma Marc Newson Collection features baths, mixer taps, showers, toilet suites, basins and urinals. Each piece has been meticulously designed by Marc and his team, using high quality materials and advanced engineering by Caroma. Products are fully compliant with Australian bathroom product standards, and are available in various product options that offer flexibility to suit a range of bathroom budgets.

The Caroma Marc Newson bathroomware range has also won a coveted iF Product Design Award from the International Forum Design in Hannover, Germany, and been honoured by the German Design Council, receiving a Special Mention at the German Design Awards for 2014.
