was first established in the 60's for the purpose of manufacturing the patented Whelan Boiling Units (SL SERIES).
The main features of the Whelan Boiling Units are Simplicity in design, product reliability and the ability to meet the customer's needs. It is not unusual to find products which were manufactured by the company in the 60's still operational today.
The company specialises in designing and manufacturing a large range of boiling water units in the market, both wall mounted and undersink models, from the traditional to the technologically advanced. However, its design philosophy remains unchanged, illustrated by the Whelan Thermal Tap.
When it was first launched in late 1989, the Whelan Thermal Tap was a large capacity under sink boiling water heater. Yet, the market asked for an even larger capacity and also a unit that can operate below 200 kpa pressure. Instead of modifying the existing product, our design team went back to the basics and came up with the current Whelan Thermal Tap range which meets customers' expectations in terms of temperature, capacity and operating pressure!
The company has incorporated the Whelan Thermal Tap’s boiling module and built it into the new product range, the Whelan Twin Tap Series 2, a dual function tap which can dispense either filtered boiling or filtered chilled water with a turn of the handle. All the company’s products are designed and manufactured in Melbourne, Australia.
