Backhoe loader has pilot excavator control
THE compact machine sector is the most fiercely contested of all in the construction equipment marketplace. To increase its traction in this sector, Volvo CE launched new options and improvements for the BL71 backhoe loader which were demonstrated at the National Construction Exhibition in Sydney last month.
The BL71 backhoe loader can now be equipped with new Excavator Pilot Controls. Sited on control columns that are themselves fully adjustable, the comfort-grip joystick allows for precision operation with minimal effort for all backhoe functions. With forearms placed on armrests, the wrists do the work. Pushing the thumb controlled roller switch integrated into the joystick extends the dipper.
If the operator is more comfortable using the ISO control system that is commonly found in excavators, an optional valve can be fitted to the BL71 that converts its controls from the standard backhoe (SAE) to ISO platform.
This valve is accessible from ground level and can be switched over easily to suit individual operator preferences. Similarly, the stabiliser legs are now electro-hydraulically operated via two progressive levers on the instrument panel. These can be locked out for added safety.
The new pilot excavator control option is the perfect complement to the standard pilot controlled loader joystick. The comfort-grip joystick allows for precision operation with minimal effort for all loader functions. Pushing the roller switch integrated on the joystick opens and closes the multi-purpose bucket. Additionally, there’s a transmission Forward/Reverse button and Disconnect button on the joystick to speed up cycle times.
The BL71 is fitted with a new loader attachment bracket. A hydraulic control panel enables the machine to make use of all front-end attachments, without the inconvenience of a manual changeover.
