The outdoors are an evolving trend in Australian bathroom design with lush foliage, dappled light and a patch of blue sky becoming the latest must-haves.
The concept of outdoor bathrooms, or at least one that brings the outdoors in, is the next step in the evolution of the Australian outhouse into a relaxing home spa.
Leading Australian bathroom brand Raymor reports a growing trend towards the outdoor bathroom with homeowners opting for floor to ceiling windows and louvres, which provide unrestricted view to the outside. Major renovations have the shower cubicle being sited outside the exterior line of the house in order to create a sense of ‘enclosure’ by foliage.
The outdoor bathroom trend is accompanied by a preference for clean, organic shapes in the bathroom such as curved baths, soft edges to toilets and tapware and an earthy, natural palette in wall and floor finishes.
Freestanding oval baths such as the Adesso Bianco 1750mm acrylic model, the Adesso Urban Soft back to wall toilet suites and the softly curving Mila tapware are some of the examples of this bathroom trend.
Sustainability is also a deciding factor in addition to the aesthetics when it comes to selection of bathroom fittings. The Adesso Urban Soft toilet suite has an impressive four star WELS rating with an average flush of just 3.3 litres while the beautiful Mila basin tap has an excellent five star WELS rating using just six litres of water a minute.
The outdoor bathroom collection also includes the Mila range of accessories from toilet roll holders and towel rails to soap dispensers and toilet brushes, all featuring simple, uncluttered lines with softly curving profiles. The wall-hung, all-white ADP double-bowl vanity also features clean lines to fit in with the ‘fresco’ bathroom concept.
All Adesso, Raymor, Mila and ADP bathroom products are available exclusively at Tradelink stores nationally.
