The PBA Champion of Champions event played over the weekend of 5 and 6th January 2008 was originally scheduled to take place on natural grass greens.
However, due to the recent extreme hot weather conditions, which cause natural greens to burn, the decision was made to relocate the event to Sommerville Bowling Club.
The Sommerville Bowling Club features TigerTurf Bowlsweave, an ideal synthetic grass solution from TigerTurf Australia.
Somerville Bowling Club opened in spring 2007, is unaffected by the weather and all players can experience playing on a true fast bowling surface.
The synthetic green is available 365 days a year, has a speed of 15 - 16 and maintenance costs are greatly reduced. The winner of the championship, by a spectacular 25 - 0, Lee Schraner, an Australian representative, commented “I would rate the green equally as good as Montmorency, another TigerTurf green.”
From grass roots to international sport, TigerTurf's comprehensive range of playing surfaces are manufactured and supplied across the globe to meet standards recognised for optimum performance and enjoyment, as well as to protect the participants.
Synthetic grass surfaces are available for all sporting codes from precision bowling greens; tennis courts; netball courts; soccer, futsol, rugby and hockey pitches; cricket pitches; golf pitch and put; multi-sports surfaces to large AFL ovals, TigerTurf can provide a wide range of solutions.
