Solid Bricks
Bob Rushton, executive director of the Clay Brick and Paver Association says a well designed full brick home provides much of the protection, privacy and comfort we want.
"Better natural thermal performance, than other uninsulated forms of construction, gives a more comfortable lifestyle throughout the year while reducing energy consumption costs" said Bob Rushton. "Better sound insulation reduces noise from outside as well as between rooms inside."
"Another reason for building in full brick is that a full brick home is a solid investment that can't be eaten by termites. Full brick homes also have a greater resale value" Bob Rushton added.
It has been documented that a full brick home provides the ideal human comfort zone throughout the year. As well as being an effective barrier to the natural temperature changes of summer and winter, night and day, full brick needs less energy to stay within the comfort zone.
"You just have to walk into a full brick home and the first thing you notice is how quiet it is. Even on busy streets the outside traffic noise can be barely heard while sounds from other rooms are significantly reduced, due to the full brick walls.
As external cavity brick walls do not require insulation, building a full brick home is not as expensive as you might think, particularly if some internal walls are face brick. So why don’t you ask your builder to price your house in full brick.
