An electromagnetic field is an entity that encompasses both an electric field and a magnetic field. Electromagnetic fields are created anywhere electric currents exist. Every time an electric appliance is used, people expose themselves to both electric and magnetic fields. The intensity of the electromagnetic field is directly proportional to the intensity of the electrical current running through the appliance. The measure of EMF emission intensity are ‘Tesla or in micro Tesla’ in Europe, and ‘Gausse’ in America. An electromagnetic field is like an invisible cloud that encircles all electrical appliances that are in use.

Risks associated with EMF: Over the last decade, non-ionising, low frequency electromagnetic field emissions (measuring 50/60 hertz) have been the subject of intense research in an effort to determine if any negative effects exist on human health. Since the beginning of the 70s, various experimental and epidemiological studies have been conducted as well as over 25,000 articles have been published; all resulting in converging results.

Based on studies conducted on childhood cancers, The International Centre for Research into Cancer have classified Extra Low Frequency (ELF) electromagnetic fields as ‘potential causes for cancer in humans’, although there is no strong proof to conclude that EMF emissions definitively cause cancer in children.

From the perspective of the World Health Organisation, the recommended exposure is suggested at a limit of (1000mG) at a frequency of 50Hz and at a distance of 30cm for the general population, and a maximum limit exposure of (5000mG) for workers. However, these recommendations do not automatically imply any type of danger due to exposures in excess of these frequencies.

Considering these facts, Thermogroupuk, represented by Thermonet Underfloor Heating , have developed their Twisted Twin Cable TM, offering a solution to clients who are concerned with the potential risks.

Tests conducted by an in-house laboratory, on the Twisted Twin Cable TM, indicate that the measures of EMF emissions, recorded at ground level, vary between 0.25mG and 0.5mG (depending on the given resistance of the cable). At a distance of 1.27cm from the heating cable and if installation has been performed following the instructions set out in the installation guide, EMF emissions are non-existent. In brief, the electromagnetic field surrounding Thermogroupuk’s Twisted Twin Cable TM is lower.

The in-floor heating cable can be installed in any type of room in homes and paired with the majority of floor coverings.
