For company founder Lyndel Rothschild, combining aesthetics with the harsh demands of life afloat can be a challenge, especially when it comes to exterior furnishings and accessories. But she has found an ideal solution in Sunbrella.

“Sheets Ahoy Australia uses Sunbrella fabrics for sunbeds, bean bags, scatter cushions – in fact, anything that is subject to harsh UV and the ravages of salt water,” says Lyndel.

“It is a durable, easy-care fabric with a remarkable ability to resist fading and staining.”

The colourfastness of Sunbrella fabrics is due to a solution dye process in which colour is introduced during the manufacture of the fibre to become an integral part of each and every strand. This contrasts with the dyeing of the woven fabric, as is the case with most other brands.

Various water repellent treatments together with soil and stain resistant finishes also contribute to the fabrics’ long lasting looks. And because the weave of the fabric breathes, it also enhances resistance to mould.

“Many of our clients own multi-million dollars vessels and we work with boat builders such as Maritimo and Warren Yachts,” comments Lyndel.

Fortunately the range is as fashionable as it is practical. According to Lyndel - herself a former fashion designer - it is absolutely fantastic. Colours, stripes and patterns, classic or contemporary, Sheets Ahoy can cater to every taste.

It is not surprising that her new venture, Ahoy Living, a company specialising in home outdoor furnishings, is also capitalising on the beauty of Sunbrella.

Sunbrella brand fabrics are manufactured and marketed by Glen Raven Custom Fabrics, a subsidiary of Glen Raven based in Glen Raven, North Carolina (USA).
