At Slattery & Acquroff, we consider the staircase to be a vital component of the home, drawing the eye towards it because of its central and strategic location. Larger Geometric stairs often dominate an entrance hall, becoming the focal point of a home and are positioned specifically for a dramatic first impression.
Customisation of your stair is not a problem with many options being available, including feature bottom steps and modern mitred margins on carpet stairs. A range of balustrade options are available including styles in timber, wrought iron and stainless steel.
Colours and Textures
There would not be many timbers that Slattery & Acquroff have not used in its 85 years of operation and today, we pride ourselves on being able to supply materials that other cannot. However we do encourage our clients to, where possible, avoid a list of Asia species that are harvested using questionable and unsustainable foresting tactics.
Our range of “standard” timbers is great. Victorian Ash, Tasmanian Oak, Blackbutt, Brushbox, Spotted Gum, Sydney Blue Gum, Jarrah, Grey Ironbark, Red Ironbark are regularly used in our staircases. Finding the more exotic Australian hardwood in staircase sizes can be a challenge and often the parallel gluing of treads, strings and handrail is required.
Shortages in exotic Australian hardwood and a changing community’s attitudes has seen Slattery & Acquroff become a leader in the use of recycled timbers and glue laminated products.
