As an integral part of an audio visual project, Rutledge Engineering on behalf of their clients South Australia Water, were commissioned to source a reliable interactive kiosk supplier for their new 6-Star energy rated facility in Adelaide. The kiosks, located within the Learning Centre, convey and inform visitors (mostly children) of a variety of information and tips, relating in particular to the preservation of water. With the recent water restrictions evident nationally, SA Water are taking the initiative to educate and inform the younger generation.
SA Water are moving away from traditional methods of communication and exploring the benefits of interactive kiosks in order to maintain the interest of youths while simultaneously increasing the awareness of the importance of water conservation. The aim of the solution is to:
- Provide water saving tips and information to educate individuals, in particular children.
- Streamline the learning process while making it fun and informative to all users.
- Provide management with the ability to make regular and timely updates and announcements.
- Source an existing off the shelf solution, which complements the aesthetic of the learning centre.
- Be hard wearing, robust and sturdy in order to cope with the high volume of traffic expected.
Sprocket Kiosks were selected as the preferred Kiosk Solutions providers by SA Water. The criterion for this selection was that Sprocket Kiosks had:
- A quick turnaround time on kiosk build, manufacture and supply in order to meet tight deadline
- A range of standard and bespoke products providing a wide range of choice and flexible multiple configurations
- The ability to future proof kiosks for the potential addition of other components at a later date
Sprocket supplied SA Water with 7 x LA32 Kiosks for the Learning Centre and 1 x V series and 2 x E series for the customer service area. The LA32 Kiosk is Sprocket’s 32” Portrait Orientated Kiosk solution, which comes as a freestanding, aesthetically pleasing kiosk, suitable for a number of applications.
SA Water required a solution with a minimal footprint given the high customer flow evident through the learning centre. Additionally, proximity sensors were integrated into the kiosks in order to attract passers-by and entice them into using the kiosks. The interactive kiosks allow users to control the information they wish to receive by providing the ability to touch icons which trigger movies, flashing images and informative text.
