Altus ceiling fans from Spinifex Fans were installed at a cliff-top beach house at Mollymook on the NSW South Coast.
Situated on top of an escarpment at the north end of the beach, the house features open glass along the southern side of the property to offer panoramic views.
Originally built in the 1970s with a mid-1990’s renovation by the current owners, the beach house went through another round of refurbishment, which included fitting ceiling fans to enhance the comfort levels on hot days and breezeless evenings.
The current owners wanted quiet, subtly unobtrusive ceiling fans with an interesting design detail, which they found in the Altus range. According to the owner, Altus ceiling fans work well with their low ceilings while the white finish complements the open airiness of their weekender.
Though the house has an air-conditioning system, the increasing environmental awareness and escalating electricity prices have encouraged the owners to opt for ceiling fans, which cost just a few cents a day to run while considerably reducing carbon dioxide generation.
Additionally, ceiling fans work well with air-conditioning systems by effectively distributing the chilled air and providing a natural cooling breeze. Independent research shows that using air-conditioners with ceiling fans allows the thermostat to be lowered by up to 4ºC for the same cooling effect.
The featured Altus ceiling fan is available in a brushed aluminium, gloss white and dark bronze body, and blades in matching silver, white, maple, mahogany and black, allowing designers a wide range of options to complement contemporary or period architecture.
