Many rooms in older and larger Australian homes have been doomed to a dark existence until the arrival of a solution from natural lighting and ventilation specialists, Solatube Australia .

Solatube Australia’s compact but highly reflective tubular skylights are so efficient they carry sunlight where it could not effectively penetrate before - bringing energy-efficient lighting through tall roofs to rooms deep within two-storey homes, Federation dwellings and other period homes, including Queenslanders.

Solatube Australia technology – proven in testing by the Photometric Laboratory of the Queensland University of Technology - is particularly effective during winter, helping owners of all types of housing to make best use of available daylight and save money on power bills.

Solatube Australia’s highly reflective solid tubing achieves specular reflectance of sunlight that easily exceeds the stringent requirements of Australian Standard AS4285.

And because the Australian-designed Solatube Australia skylights are only 250 or 400mm in diameter, with an unobtrusive high-efficiency patented reflector on top, they don’t detract from the appearance of beautiful traditional or modern rooflines.

Solatube Australia's natural skylights draw light through an extremely durable and very compact dome installed onto a roof. Dome installation causes minimal intrusion as Solatube integrates with various roof types (including tiles and corrugated iron) using exclusive roof fittings, which also eliminate reliance on lead flashings and protect against leaks.

Through this dome, sunlight enters and bounces off a patented parabolic reflector. It passes through the solid reflective tubing and enters a dark room through a clear, opal, opaque or frosted slim-line diffuser on the ceiling.

Solatube Australia natural lighting systems provide as much light as conventional skylights without the heat transfer. When installed with Solatube double glazed diffuser at ceiling level, all heat entering the house is dissipated into the roof cavity.

Because they are only 250mm or 400mm in diameter, Solatube Australia’s natural lighting solutions reduce security risks. Their light diffusion also safeguards furniture, which may be prone to bleaching and fading when in constant contact with direct sunlight.

Solatube Australia skylights – which have won both the Australian Design Award and the Housing Industry Association's ‘Best New Product’ award - have been proven in laboratory tests to shine brightest when energy savings are needed most, such as during the colder months.
