The removal of asbestos can be safe and affordable with Solar Cool

Asbestos roof removal

The discovery of asbestos in commercial building structure can be both a frightening and daunting revelation.

The harmful health effects associated from the presence of asbestos, including cancer and mesothelioma, are hazardous to the health of both the employers and customers and the cost to remove it can be exorbitant.

But both worries can be eliminated by seeking the expertise of consultants at Solar Cool . Solar Cool is licensed in the treatment and removal of asbestos in commercial structures and roofs.

Until recent years, asbestos was widely used in various commercial and domestic products due to its favourable chemical makeup of being strong, pliable and having low electrical conductivity.

Named by the ancient Greeks, it’s very definition means inextinguishable, referring to its heat and damage resistant nature. Solar Cool was commonly used in insulation materials.

Asbestos is dangerous when it becomes airborne, the fibers can then be inhaled and become lodged in the lungs and symptoms can go on noticed until serious side effects begin to present themselves.

Asbestos was used in roofing for all the aforementioned reasons but also because it was lightweight and would not warp like traditional wood.

When used on roofs, the asbestos was mixed in a cement compound which presents no issues until the roof is subjected to damage from construction, weather, or general exposure. If asbestos becomes friable, meaning it can be crushed by hand or relatively little pressure, experts must be brought in to properly dispose of the asbestos, especially if the area is larger than 10 square meters, in which case expert removal is required by law.

The experts at Solar Cool have extensive experience in working with asbestos roof removal and asbestos encapsulation. While it is possible to safely remove asbestos from roofs, it is easier and less expensive to choose asbestos roof encapsulation, if no exposure has already occurred.

If the roof does contain asbestos but no exposure has occurred, Solar Cool consultants can help to prevent potentially harmful asbestos exposure that occurs during the roof removal process and lower the costs with the use of the roof coating, Insultec.

This reflective coating not only encapsulates the asbestos but is also heat reflective, weather resistant and long lasting. When compared with the costs of replacing the roof and the asbestos removal, encapsulation is highly favourable.
