Terra cotta is made the old fashioned way and is thrown on pottery wheels, hand pressed into intricate moulds, sculptured, pressed by a 100 year old brick press or extruded into various shapes and then cut on a cutting table.
Once made, the clay product takes about 3 weeks to air dry before being placed in a gas kiln where it is fired to approx. 1100° degrees. This firing cycle takes 3 days to complete.
Lead time is generally between 4 and 12 weeks, however large sculptures and big orders may take longer. Confirm delay when ordering.
Tile bodies include terra cotta and buff, and finishes include bronzing and various colour glazes. Because terra cotta is a natural material all architectural ceramics products are subjected to slight size and colour variations.
