Paint tips from Rentquip
Rentquip have a range of hire equipment for tradespeople and the home handyman. Here, they offer some painting tips.
- If you want to stop paint running down the outside of your tin, punch holes around the rim. The paint will flow back into the tin.
- By placing a plastic shopping bag over the paint tray, you can keep it clean and ready for its next use
- A piece of string tied across the top of the paint tin can be used as a brush wipe as well as a brush support. It can stop your brush falling into the tin and stop paint spilling down the side.
- On a hot day, if you are using water-based paint, you can cool walls down by spraying them with water before painting them. This will make the job faster and easier.
- To pick out small details in extra colours, use an artist’s brush.
- Avoid paint spots on your glasses by wrapping them in plastic cling wrap. You can peel the spots straight off.
- If you have a paint spill, scrape up the paint, starting from the outside. This will stop it spreading. You can also use kitty litter to soak up paint.
- To avoid chipping and cracking, remove masking tape before the paint is completely hard.
- If paint stains are kept wet and attended to immediately, most acrylic paints can be washed out of carpet. Rinse the affected areas immediately with water, sponge out and rinse with clean water. Detergent cleaners can also be used.
