A major refurbishment on a hotel on the Gold Coast was faced with unsightly and scratched travertine
tiles in front of the lifts.
After nearly twenty years in place the continual foot traffic and suitcases rolling over them had taken its toll.
After each floor had been repainted, wallpapered and new carpeting installed, the tiles that sat in front of each lift just did not sit right with the Body Corporate.
Initially a decision was made to tear out the tiles and re-tile. This was going to prove not only costly, but would inconvenience the residents and guests.
Regal Floors was called in to see, if they could help and save the tiles. A sample tile was done to show what could be achieved.
The Body Corporate inspected the sample tile and decided to go with restoration rather than the original plan of replacing.
After a thorough clean the tiles were ground, honed and re-polished, this restored the travertine tiles to their original beauty.
The refurbishment now is completed and the cost savings will allow the Body Corporate to allocate funds to other needed tasks.
Natural stone floors and surfaces are durable functional and long lasting. Even when they may look a little tired with a little help, they can be brought back to as new condition saving costs.
