A recent study was undertaken by the University of Newcastle into Queensland inventor, Mark Flanagan’s RainIQ and H2DUO rain harvesting systems. The study highlighted that when it comes to rain harvesting the RainIQ and H2DUO systems provide greater performance in capturing rainfall than by simply increasing the size of the rain water tank.
Results also highlight that the RainIQ and H2DUO systems fitted to a 1000 Litre. The tank provides considerably higher rainwater yield (for all water demand scenarios) than a 10,000 litre tank without the RainIQ and H2DUO systems. This is an important planning insight, particularly for retro-fits on small allotments with limited area for larger tanks.
Mark, together with Everhard Industries, now have the products available for purchase through plumbing and hardware outlets across the country, including Rainmax .
The water harvesting systems are patented products:
- RAINIQ designed to maximise rain water collection
- H2DUO designed to provide easy access to tank water without expensive additional plumbing
The two water harvesting systems were initially installed on Mr Flanagan’s Brisbane based house, allowing for him to use his entire roof for catchment and thereby increasing the collection area to 100%, and not the 20 -25% roof area as is the case in most tank installations.
Mr Flanagan is excited to launch the product to the Australian retail market in an attempt to make the nation more water wise. “In a country where so much of our land is desert, we have no excuse not to be water smart,” Mark said.
“It doesn’t matter if we are currently in drought or not, we need to be prepared and the RAINIQ and H2DUOsystems are a cost-effective measure for every day families.”
