Pro Plaster Products warn that cracking is something that everybody should be aware of, particularly during the summer.
During the last 5 years, Archicentre, the building advisory service of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects, have discovered that 38% of the 75,000 houses they inspected have experienced cracking.
As the ground hardens during a drought, the risk of cracking is increased by up to 30%.
Homes most prone to cracking are those constructed from traditional style brick and plaster. Occurrences of cracking of light-weight, energy-efficient constructions are less severe, because these building allow for more movement.
