The OdourVac ventilation system draws directly from the toilet bowl, instantly removing odours from the bathroom. The fan is located in the ceiling space away from the bathroom and includes a back draft shutter, meaning the system is classed as a sealed system.
Below are some frequently asked questions on the OdourVac ventilation system:
Does the fan run continuously?
No, the system only operates whilst the toilet is in use.
How is the fan activated?
According to customer preference, the fan can be activated in any one of three ways:
- Wiring it to the light switch
- Having a completely separate fan switch; and
- Linking the ventilation system to a movement sensor switch
Kits contain all the components necessary to carry out the installation including the fan, grill, bends, flexible ducting, PVC fittings and installation instructions. The one thing not included is the 50mm PVC pipe, this will be provided by the installing plumber.
Will there be a when using the toilet?
No, the fan only draws 5-10 l/s from the toilet. It draws enough air for the system to be 100% effective; however, the person using the toilet will not feel a draft.
Who will install the ventilation system?
It is a legal requirement that OdourVac ventilation systems are installed by licensed plumbers only.
At what stage is the OdourVac system installed?
The system should be installed before the plasterboard and tiles go up on the walls because all pipe work is installed in the wall cavity and ceiling space. Once the plasterboard and tiles are installed the plumber will need to return to fit off the WC and grill.
Is it possible for the OdourVac system to be adapted to in wall cisterns?
Yes, OdourVac will simply provide an alternative fitting which connects directly onto the flush pipe rather than connecting through the back of the cistern.
Can the system be installed into an existing bathroom?
Yes it can, but the ideal time is during building or renovation works to eliminate installation difficulties with penetrating wall studs and noggins within wall cavities and the removal of bathroom tiles.
Can the fan be located under the floor?
Yes, but an alternative pipe work configuration is necessary to stop water from contacting the fan.
Is the OdourVac system noisy?
As the OdourVac fan is located away from the bathroom it is extremely quiet and almost silent.
