Freestyle exhibition with innovative designs from Object Store

Object Store  organise exhibitions of innovative designs in Australia.

The ‘Freestyle’ exhibition, organised by Object Store along with Melbourne Museum, offered innovative Australian design for the body and home by forty outstanding designers. The list included textiles by cloth, furniture by Charles Wilson, jewellery by Dinosaur Designs, lighting by Bernabeifreeman, personal accessories by Crumpler, Akira Isogawa and Easton Pearson and homeware by Jon Goulder.

The creation and works on show featured the vibrancy, character and growing maturity of modern-day design in Australia. Object Store’s Freestyle also disclosed the stories' behind the designs, passion and technique of individual designers, revealing aspects of the personality, and placed their work in diversified cultural and personal perception.

Curated by Object's Associate Director Brian Parkes and followed by a major publication with exhibition design and identity by globally commended Frost Design, the ‘Freestyle’ exhibition was a ‘first-time collaboration’ between Object Store and Melbourne Museum. Opened in Melbourne in 2006, Freestyle moved to Sydney before going on a national and worldwide tour to Milan in 2008.
