Obeco Glass Blocks has released fire-rated glass blocks with integrity and insulation values of either 60 or 90 minutes from their German supplier Solaris.

These ratings refer to the blocks’ abilities to halt fires and thermal radiation.

The regular 190mm x 190mm x 80mm glass block will halt fires for 60 minutes while double-thickness blocks measuring 190mm x 190mm x 160mm will halt both fires and thermal radiation for either 60 or 90 minutes, depending on the model purchased..

The CSIRO has assessed Obeco’s custom aluminium framing system for installation of both types of block, and this has simplified the installation of fire rated panels of the glass blocks.
