The old Millennium Hotel at Kings Cross has been renovated and modernised and has been reborn as the contempory boutique hotel, The Diamant.
The pre existing high speed gearless passenger lifts were over 35 years old, the interiors and car and landing fixtures were worn out and redundant. The technology was the ancient and power hungry Ward Leonard system.
Multilift Commercial transformed the car interiors, the button and indicator fixtures were replaced with modern fixtures, the ancient drive system was replaced with good static converters which provided a stepless acceleration and deceleration speed curve and a high level of ride comfort.
The use of the static converter drive systems by P Dahl Electronic from Sweden, in conjunction with Dietz Electronic from Germany, allowed Multilift Commercial to re-use the existing Express gearless machines, saving the Client money and reducing on site construction times.
The advantage of lift modernisation is that the existing equipment, that is not redundant, can be re-used saving money and downtime due to the reduced time taken for construction. Further, the reduced demand for energy and materials can be a bi-product of lift modernisation and the environment will also benefit from the savings.
