Multiclad , a wholly Australian-owned company, supplied almost 45,000sqm of fire-rated tunnel lining panels to the Clem Jones Tunnel, in Brisbane.
Multiclad is supplied the German-manufactured product: Aestuver, a lightweight, sandwich panel cement board with superior properties to traditional compressed fibre cement panels. Aestuver panels are designed specifically for use in tunnels, or wherever there is a requirement for high performing products in a fire or durability situation.
Guardian Building Products painted the panels with a a graffiti-resistant two-pak, polyurethane paint system, developed specifically for the intended environment. Formerly known as the North South Bypass tunnel, The Clem Jones Tunnel (Clem7), is a dual road tunnel of approximately five kilometres, providing a direct cross-city link bypassing Brisbane’s CBD.
The Clem Jones Tunnel links Ipswich Road and the Pacific Motorway (M3) in Woolloongabba, to Lutwyche Road and the Inner City Bypass (ICB) in Bowen Hills. A connection to Shafston Avenue in Kangaroo Point will also provide access for the eastern suburbs.
